I think you need to get some facts straight

The first Kanon anime was made in 2002. You're probably thinking of the game, which was published in 1999.

Now, the remake wasn't all about the art, it was part storyline too.

You should try the PS2 version, it has more anime style cutscenes to review. (that is, if you haven't already)
